Here are the key differences:
- LEAP targets the mid-level Manager or 'future leaders' in the organization. Not the CEO and his/her "Key Executives".
- LEAP also has a more structured learning "curriculum" which is customized to member's needs and co-branded with your firm/identity.
- The LEAP program is finite - 1 year in length. Vistage is ongoing until the member decides to drop out. Often graduates from LEAP will go on to join a Vistage group having a stronger business leadership orientation and/or having made a step up in their organization.
- We use a 360-degree leadership survey at the beginning and end of the LEAP year to measure key leadership behaviors, create a development plan, and measure improvements against the baseline a year later. Vistage does not formally use 360's or other assessments as a regular part of the program.
- We have an additional (proprietary) "Confidence & Competence Leadership Impact Measurement" which is administered 3x's during the LEAP year to measure actual growth as well as use the information for 1:1 coaching during the LEAP year. Vistage has a 'goal-setting' process and depending on the Chair of the group, may or may not do peer-to-peer check-ins against the goals and/or 1:1 coaching with the goals.
How much 1:1 Coaching is involved in LEAP? As a billable professional we're all acutely aware of how hours can eat away at our profits, so when a fixed fee program like LEAP includes 1:1 Coaching, we understand the concern about hours getting out of control. What we've found however, is that best case is to recommend 2-3 coaching sessions per year, per participant, but let everyone know we are always available for more should they need it. This builds trust and the perceived availability is consistently ranked as one of the top values of LEAP in our year-end surveys. With so much valuable peer-to-peer engagement, we find that usually only one person in the group takes advantage of all three recommended 1:1 sessions, but everyone places high value on the availability. Knowing this coaching is an option has even led to participants bringing us into their organization during their LEAP year, for paid coaching engagements with team members and groups who are not currently participating in LEAP.
